Early Childhood Development

This qualification is designed to prepare students to become competent Early Childhood
Development Practitioners. Graduates will be able to plan and prepare age-appropriate learning
environments and activities; facilitate and mediate learning in inclusive, play-based settings;
observe, assess, and record children’s learning and development; and reflect on teaching practice to
ensure the holistic development of children from conception to school-going age. These skills are
applicable in both centre-based and non-centre-based ECD environments such as crèches,
playgroups, home-based care, and pre-school settings.

Plan and prepare stimulating, inclusive educational activities that support children’s holistic well-
being and learning. Facilitate and mediate interactive learning programmes in a variety of contexts
(centre-based or non-centre-based).

Observe, assess, record, and report on each child’s progress according to their developmental stage
and context. Promote and uphold the health, safety, protection, and overall well-being of children in
Early Childhood Development settings.
Maintain collaborative relationships with parents, caregivers, and other service providers; and
