Radio Production

This qualification equips students with the skills and knowledge required to produce professional radio programmes. The National Certificate in Radio Production at NQF Level 5 is designed to be
relevant across commercial, public, and community radio sectors.
With community radio playing a vital role in South Africa’s diverse media landscape, this qualification opens opportunities for individuals from all cultural backgrounds to enter the broadcasting field.
students will gain practical, hands-on experience in content creation, sound production, and programme development.

1. Research and develop content for radio broadcasts
2. Write radio scripts (excluding drama scripts, advertisements, introductions to inserts, or full magazine programmes)
3. Build and maintain resource networks relevant to radio production
4. Generate, develop, and pitch programme ideas for transmission
5. Operate a variety of studio and field recording and production equipment
6. Produce live and pre-recorded programmes for broadcast
7. Edit and mix audio features and programmes to meet broadcasting standards
8. Conduct interviews with guests, panels, and content contributors in a broadcasting context
